Celebrating 20 Years Service

At Smith & Byford we value our staff and recognise the importance of staff retention. This week we took some time out to acknowledge Mark's achievement and celebrate 20 years of service. Mark first started with us as an Apprentice in 1997. During this time he has progressed within the company and now works as a BMS Technical Supervisor. Our Managing Director wanted to say a big 'thank you' to Mark for all of his hard work and dedication during this time and presented Mark (above right) with a special gift to celebrate this milestone.

Alzheimer's Society Cake Day

We recently held a cupcake cake in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. A number of staff baked cakes and bought these in to sell and raise money for the charity. In addition staff bought in handmade cards and craft pieces to sell, which were greatly received. The day was a great success and we managed to raise an amazing £543.16.

Christmas Charity Work

We have been working closely with Age Concern and getting involved with their projects. Our staff recently spent the morning delivering Christmas hampers to sheltered accommodation and residential homes within the local area. Local schools donated the content and volunteers helped to wrap and deliver the hampers. Our staff spent the morning delivering these to local residential homes and sheltered accommodation. We really enjoyed helping the elderly and spreading some Christmas cheer.

Cheam Christmas Jingle

Our Total Home Solutions team recently took part in the annual Cheam Jingle. We transformed Bobby the Boiler into Father Christmas, decorated the Showroom and invited our customers to join us for a glass of wine and a mince pie. We also arranged for a live singer to perform a variety of festive numbers throughout the evening. In addition our Electrical Department installed fairy lights around the village, which were turned on by local celebrity, Tim Vine. The village was filled with hundreds of people and the evening was a great success.

The Cheam Scream

The Cheam Scream is an annual event involving a Halloween trail around Cheam Village. On the day thousands of children dressed up in spooky costumes and spent the day visiting local shops and businesses, collecting sweets and treats! Our Total Home Solutions spent the afternoon handing out sweets, hosting a colouring competition and donating a prize to the best dressed. We also transformed Bobby the Boiler into a ghost and dressed our Showroom window with eerie decorations. The lucky winner of our colouring competition was Amber, aged 7, who was delighted with her prize of a smiggle voucher.
