Electrical Test Engineer

Hours: Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm including Out of Hours cover (flexible hours)

Smith & Byford are a progressive company who require Electrical Test Engineers with a sound knowledge of electrical installation and periodic testing.  The purpose of the role is to inspect, test and certify fixed electrical wiring systems to BS7671 and NICEIC Standards.  This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Test Electrician or an Electrician with relevant industrial / commercial experience to develop their career in this area.

The main pre-requisites are:
- Applicants must be fully qualified electricians, possessing City & Guilds 236 part 1 and 2 / 2330 parts 2 & 3 (or equivalent)
- 17th Edition and City and Guilds 2391
- The role involves electrical testing, inspection and certification of Fixed Electrical Wiring
- Carrying out remedial works on tested installation to ensure compliance with current regulations, fault diagnosis, etc
- Compiling snagging lists during the inspection and testing to assist in providing quotations for remedial repairs
- Installation work

The ideal Electrical Test Engineer will at all times demonstrate the capability to meet the highest customer and company standards.  They must demonstrate courteous and respectful behaviour in all dealings with Clients and the public and must always remember that they are the Company representatives and act accordingly. In addition they will:

- Have the ability to work on their own initiative
- An effective communicator with a flexible approach regarding travel and out of hours working
- Hold a clean current driving licence
- Be computer literate (with some knowledge of EICR Certification Software)
