Smith & Byford are looking for an enthusiastic individual to train as an apprentice to become a fully qualified Electrical Operative in Installation, Testing and Inspection within the Electrical Department. The role includes gaining practical experience along side established engineers. This experience will primarily be gained whilst testing domestic properties and conducting small scale installation projects over the course of a period of 4 years. The role provides experience in installation of a variety of containment and cabling and carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports, which will include fault finding of domestic and commercial systems in a large number of properties. Smith & Byford are looking for an enthusiastic individual to train to become a fully qualified Gas Engineer starting out in our Installations Department. The role includes gaining practical experience alongside established engineers on multiple projects who are primarily involved in the installation of  plumbing/repairing pipework, new heating components, hot and cold water systems and gas work. The role also provides experience in maintenance, servicing and fault finding of heating systems in a large number of social housing properties. The role will encompass supporting the existing Electrical Team and taking responsibility for the daily management of allocated engineer’s diaries, time sheets and all relevant paperwork associated with time sheets. The Electrical Administrator is also responsible for making sure invoicing is done on a daily basis as well as timesheet approval – all after the usual in-house training has taken place whilst working within the department. To carry out installation of gas boilers, full heating systems and associated equipment such as radiators, cylinders and gas supplies to a high standard. You will be expected to wok alongside a close knit team of Installation Engineers, Sub Contractors, Electricians, Builders, Surveyors, Supervisors, Office Staff, and Managers. This role is for a full-time position within our Gas Installation Department. The main intention is to achieve a high level of control monitoring, and consistency of focus on performance within the department. This role is field based  and will have the responsibility for attending client properties to assess the type of work required in installing a replacement boiler/associated controls and materials as necessary or a full heating survey for a complete installation of a wet central heating heating system, complete with scale drawing of boiler and radiator position.

This role is for a full time position, based in our call centre. As part of this role you will be working within a team of skilled Customer Service Operatives (CSO) covering all domestic gas service contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering great customer experience through a variety of customer contact channels (phone, email, live chat, etc).
